The falsification of an accidental universe

Many theories have been put forth to explain the apparently “fine-tuned” constants. Most of these involve the notion that the constants were accidentally specified, typically within the context of a multiverse. These models are often criticized for being unverifiable and, therefore, speculative. They are also supposedly nonfalsifiable. However, if the constants were accidentally specified, then physically significant, dimensionless ratios would likely have random values; we would not expect to find that they involve any mathematical pattern. But there may be such a pattern. Hence, the constants would not have been accidentally specified, and this would falsify all scenarios invoking an accidental origin for the universe.
Un bon nombre de théories ont été avancées dans le but d'expliquer les constantes apparemment “réglées avec précision.” La plupart d'entre elles impliquent la notion selon laquelle les constantes étaient spécifiées par hasard, habituellement dans le contexte d'un multi-univers. Ces modèles sont souvent critiqués comme non-vérifiables et par conséquent spéculatifs. Ils sont également non falsifiables. Toutefois, si les constantes était spécifiées par hasard, par conséquence les rapports non-dimensionnels significatives d'un point de vue physique auraient probablement des valeurs aléatoires, et nous ne nous attendrions pas à envisager qu'elles impliquent un quelconque tendance mathématique. Mais une telle tendance peut exister. Par conséquent, il peut en être déduit que les constantes n'ont pas été spécifiées par hasard, ce qui fausserait tous les scénarios évoquant une origine accidentelle de l'univers.
