Effects of external radiation on an Alcubierre warp bubble

The possibility of an Alcubierre warp drive (AWD) has been extensively explored and challenged in the literature. This paper summarizes the principles behind the proposed AWD and the issues that may hinder its realization. Also examined is an additional complication that appears to prohibit even a subluminal Alcubierre warp bubble. In contrast to the assertion by Barceló et al. (e-print arXiv:1001.4960), this work argues that both continuous and pulsed configurations of subluminal and superluminal warp bubbles cannot be sustained due to the energy loss from the blueshifting of external radiation entering the front Pfenning region.
La possibilite´ d’une distorsion Alcubierre a e´te´ e´tudie´e et a e´te´ remise en question dans les publications. Cet article pre´sente un re´sume´ des principes de la distorsion propose´e et les proble`mes qui pourraient empeˆcher sa re´alisation.On va montrer ainsi qu’il y auneautre complication qui semble interdire meˆme une distorsion Alcubierre subliminale. Contrairement a` C. Barceló, S. Finazzi, and S.Liberati(arXiv:1001.4960, 27January2010), ce travail soutient que les configurations continue´es et pulse´es de bulles de distorsion subluminales et superluminales ne peuvent pas eˆtre soutenues a` cause de la perte de l’e´nergie dude´calage vers le bleu de la radiation externe qui entre dans la re´gion frontale de Pfenning.
