Microphysics from Classical Electrodynamics

It is suggested that de Broglie matter waves could be of electromagnetic nature. This interpretation is compatible with the known fundamental equations valid for free, massive particles. The proposed model is derived from the one developed for the wave‐particle duality of the photon, in purely classical terms, in a previous paper. Based on a speculative hypothesis on the electric polarizability of vacuum, an attempt is made to reconcile the apparently contradictory corpuscular and wave‐like aspects of radiating energy and massive particles. A physical consistency is conferred to the wave‐function ψ and to the de Broglie matter pilot wave.
